Artiststatement 2023
Skulpturen die Räume beschreiben, Bewegungen sichtbar machen und begangen werden wollen.
Mich interessieren Systeme, deren Funktionen, Verbindungen und Ordnungen innerhalb – sowohl menschlich als auch industriell. Durch das Ausloten unterschiedlicher Werkstoffe beschäftige ich mich spielerisch mit den Materialeigenschaften, inszeniere und hinterfrage ihre Beschaffenheit und kehre sie teils um. Ich greife handwerkliche Referenzen und Techniken auf und stellt diese in einen neuen Kontext.
Es entsteht Raum für Gegenüberstellungen und Irritationen, so ist nicht immer ist das, was man sieht, auch das, was es zu sein scheint – eine Art Rollentausch zwischen Volumen, Leichtigkeit, Stabilität und Oberfläche. Durch hybride Zusammenführungen unterschiedlicher Materialien und Techniken entsteht in meinen Skulpturen gleichzeitig ein Moment von Verschmelzung und Entgrenzung, der diese Ambivalenz im Arbeitsprozess erahnen lässt.
Die Abwesenheit in Bezug auf den Raum spielt in meinen Skulpturen und Installationen eine Rolle, der negative Raum innerhalb einer Komposition bestimmt den Schwerpunkt, Leerstellen werden mitgedacht und sind autonomer Teil der skulpturalen Setzung.
Sculptures that describe spaces, make movements visible and want to be walked on.
I am interested in systems, their functions, connections and orders within - both human and industrial. By exploring different materials, I playfully engage with the material properties, staging and questioning their nature and partly reversing them. I take up craft references and techniques and place them in a new context.
This creates space for juxtapositions and irritations, so what you see is not always what it seems to be - a kind of role reversal between volume, lightness, stability and surface. Through hybrid conflations of different materials and techniques, a moment of fusion and dissolution of boundaries simultaneously emerges in my sculptures, foreshadowing this ambivalence in the working process. Absence in relation to space plays a role in my sculptures and installations, the negative space within a composition determines the focus, voids are co-conceived and are an autonomous part of the sculptural setting.
